Andrea (she/ her) is a registered social worker with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Social Workers (NLCSW) and is a certified Child and Youth Care Practitioner(CYC-P). She graduated from the University of Winnipeg with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Conflict Resolution Studies in 2001, and went on to study at Memorial University of Newfoundland to complete a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) in 2016, and a Master of Social Work (MSW) in 2023.
Andrea has extensive experience working in the community with adults and families. For over 20 years, she has been working with adults in individual and group settings to strengthen their skills, confidence and capacity to take on the complex challenges of navigating transition and change.
Andrea brings a non-judgmental and strengths-based approach to her clinical work. She recognizes and respects the current skills and strengths that individuals have. Collaboratively, she works to support adults overcome difficulties and improve their overall well-being through learning new approaches and perspectives in everyday life. Andrea has completed additional training in mindfulness.
Andrea works with Ruah as a counsellor and has facilitated the groups – When You See Red for Women, Stress Management, and Self-Empowerment for Women.
